First off, I have figured out how to wrap the picture with text and that makes me insatiably happy. I need to point that out before I begin! Secondly, does everybody around Word Press hibernate on the weekends? It seems like there’s not much going on… Third, I feel like hibernating tonight, thus the title for this post.
Did you know that not just your friend, the bear, hibernates? “A list of hibernating animals might include the following mammals: Chipmunks, ground squirrels, echidnas, possums, hedgehogs, hamsters, skunks, bats, prairie dogs, marmots, badgers, and some lemurs.” I would like to be added to that list please. Cape Cod Times website has listed today’s weather as being small amounts of snow, mostly foggy, with winds throughout the evening. I would like to give you this update… We have a blizzard on our hands.
This picture was taken on my back porch… the wind is supposedly blowing about 50 mph, and the snow is still coming down hard. Although it doesn’t look like much… believe me it is.
We have accumulated around 9 inches so far, this being New England it could be gone by tomorrow but I doubt it. It should be continuing until 7am. Wahoo! I can hear the plow coming around outside… it’s a strange sound. The crunch of snow being pushed up against my driveway so I can’t leave in the morning. Them Sandwich officials are kind to me!
Have you ever seen My Neighbor Totoro? (I’m not sure if it’s the title that should be italicized…) It’s a wonderful movie made by Hiyao Miyazaki that EVERYBODY should watch…
The plow driving through my neighborhood reminds me of the catbus that comes through town. The sound of the wind through the door also reminds me of this beloved character… but again I digress.
I should also mention that my new job starts tomorrow. That’s right, tomorrow. I have never been there before, I don’t know where to go or how to check in or who to talk to or where to find them, and now I have a blizzard on my hands. I have never had anybody go out of their way like this company has. I have already received an e-mail from Maureen because she was concerned that I’d be stuck trying to get into work on my first day. She gave me their “weather hot line” so I can call them in the morning to find out if there is work. I might have a snow day on my first day!!! Tristan also has the day off so maybe we can make a snow man and I can put pictures of us up here being cute and making a snowman!
I am very excited!
All of this being said… I am going to crawl into bed, turn on my electric blanket and listen to the plow outside.
You can see it crawling around my neighborhood in the background of this picture. This is taken through a window & a screen but you get the idea. Our cars are buried, especially the Saturn because it’s been there the longest. So tonight I say Sweet Dreams & Stay Warm… and I hope that I have a snow day on my first day tomorrow… that would be a memorable experience. I also hope we lose power because that is the best!

How do you make the pictures wrap? I have yet to figure that out. I’m online.
But then, my computer is always on and glued to my lap. I don’t have energy to do much else.
@ Little Miss – I’m not sure how to do it in the dashboard but do you have Windows Live Writer? If not download it now because it’s amazing. When you are using the Windows Live Writer you can upload your pictures relatively easily. Once a picture is uploaded make sure it is highlighted. (I.E. The black square is surrounding it with the dots that you pull on to enlarge or shrink the image) Once it is highlight on the right toolbar is something that will say text wrapping “Inline” is default… if you pull that drop down menu to either right or left then you can add text to either the right or left. I hope that’s not too hard to follow, I’m not great at explaining directions.
My computer is most frequently glued to my lap which is why I keep pressing refresh and waiting for new things to happen. ha-ha!
oh, and welcome to my blog!
I think that in some respects Saturdays are kind of slow on WordPress and all the blogging sites. A lot of people read blogs and write their own while they’re at work, and on the weekends they’re off doing errands or whatnot. But on the other hand, I think there is a whole different set of readers who have nothing going on the weekends, and tend to spend their free time surfing the Internet. Personally, I’m all over the place every day, all day. Like Little Miss, I usually have my laptop within easy reach at any given moment 24/7. Even when I’m watching TV, because I often look up stuff related to whatever I’m watching. Sick, I know.
Hibernating sounds very good. I think we’ve been conditioned since childhood to equate the sound of a snowplow with the happiness achieved by burying down into the covers and going back to sleep. Good luck tomorrow at work! Or … have fun making a snowman!
@ Little Miss – I use Windows Live Writer for just this reason, I can control the appearance of my posts much better than I can by posting through WordPress. Fonts, text wrap, inserting my Technorati tags, everything I can’t seem to figure out how to do via WP.
I am so going to try Windows Live Writer.
I already have it, so I’ll give it a try on my next post. Thanks!
Oh, and by the way, I love your header image. Did you take that yourself? It’s awesome.
@ Little Miss – USE the livewriter! it’s amazing! My image header is from yahoo images. I saw I could do a custom image and typed in “Rain” and then selected that part of the picture.
I love rain!
@ Wendy – I imagined the blogging world as a bunch of people like me. They sit on the couch and watch TV with their laptops attached to them, (no it’s not sick I do the same thing and look up things! I even go to websites when a commercial suggests it! haha) surfing the web & updating as they see fit. Obviously I had no idea people could blog at work! As you see from today’s post… I now know the glory of this work feature!
Where is that cat picture from? I wonder whether you really like that snapfish pop up floating across your pictures and text. It can easily be disabled at desktop >> presentation >> extras. It is basically meant for people who prefer to insert only thumbnails.
Yes, peple blog at work, which is why on week ends the audience is smaller or different. I hope you know it is not a completely safe thing to do since most companies have ways to monitor who does what online.
@ Cantueso – The cat picture is from the movie My Neighbor Totoro, it’s the catbus I was referring to. The movie is from Hiyao Miyazaki and it’s amazing.
I dont ever see a snapfish pop up so I’m not sure what you are referring to…
and my work is totally cool with the blog, i’ve already mentioned it but thanks for the concern.
