I have a strange affection for all things Beatrix Potter. I currently have her biography, Beatrix Potter: A Life in Nature although I haven’t read it yet.
A while back I posted about my wonderful Mother In Law who purchased me the Peter Rabbit boxed set for my birthday after only mentioning once that I liked the author. She truly is amazing. I also posted about the fabric I found and wanted to make into a baby blanket someday. ![]()
I can’t explain it, but I truly just love the story and the feeling. The nature, the animals, just the general feeling. I’m always collecting stuff concerning Beatrix Potter and last month at a yard sale I found these great collectible prints for $2! There are six of them each with a different character on them. They’ll be great in a nursery someday. ::sigh:: Someday, someday, someday.
Today, in my fit of having no money I decided to sell some of my books. Only once I got there I found a Beatrix Potter Peter Rabbit collection I didn’t have, and ended up trading my books for that set. I’m happy I have it though.
I dream in my head of the nursery my child will someday have. Boy or Girl, they will have this beautiful nursery. With a soft, warm beige room that the light will ![]()
make glow, I will have a tree painted on the wall in the corner, possible with a 3-D canopy effect going on. This will be our reading corner with the glider and our bookshelves. The Beatrix prints will be framed and on the wall and the box-set collection will be displayed next to my antique Lady Mouse music revolving figurine. I will finally use my fabric to make a
baby blanket & pillow set and god willing I will find an absolutely lovely Beatrix Potter themed mobile. ::Sigh::
Now I feel the baby envy. Someday, when my shit is together, I’ll have this dream nursery. I’ll also have my dream garden but that is another story for another day.
Now I leave you with another picture of my cat, who we have renamed “Kit Kat”
The cat’s out of the bag!

Oh thats so lovely
Thanks! Welcome back to the blogosphere. How are you feeling?? I hope you are feeling better and things are going better for you!
Just a brief note to celebrate Beatrix Potter’s birthday – yes, it’s today 28 July 1866.
David Berghouse.
Hi David! I did know that, and thanks for posting and welcome to my blog! 1866 – that was a long time ago!
For the longest time I couldn’t keep it straight that Thornton Burgess did not write Peter Rabbit. I don’t know who started writing first but I feel like Thornton Burgess totally ripped off Beatrix Potter. And they don’t like hearing that down at the Thornton Burgess Museum, let-me-tell-you.
Oh my word! I told them the same thing! I was there trying to buy Beach Plum Jelly for my mom and I realized it was all a rip off and I was mad and mentioned something and the old lady that was running the gift shop snapped at me.
Have you seen the movie Miss Potter (2006)? My wife loved it and I enjoyed it too.
I haven’t actually, but it’s in my Netflix Queue. Thanks for stopping by! I’m adding you to my blogroll
