California Fires

I just wanted to share with everybody some stats about the fires in my state. I’ve been complaining about the smoke and now you can know why there is so much of it.

Transitional July 4th…

Sometimes change is inevitable, sometimes it’s even necessary. We can all agree that sometimes change is a good thing.

This is the first Fourth of July I think I’ve spent off Cape. At least since I was way younger and don’t remember being on Cape.  It’s hard for me to grasp at right now but it’s sort of unsettling.

Every year on Cape I’d go to Town Neck beach, we’d have a bonfire, we’d have lots of drinks, and if I was really lucky I would have been there all day bbq’ing and just having a blast. Last year I went to Falmouth for the Fireworks instead, and it was raining but it was still romantic and fun. This is a picture taken from two years back…

I love the fourth… I really do. This year we are in Auburn, which is just a little gold-mining town in California. Most of the fireworks nearby have been canceled due to the extreme fires around, but for some reason, Auburn decided to go for it. The town is pretty small but from our apartment on top of the hill  we can see a perfect view of the fairgrounds without any obstructions or traffic. PERFECT!

Tristan and I walked down the train tracks to check out the hill and pick a spot. We found a great spot and parked our rears on the tracks for an private viewing of the fireworks. I got out my camera and started trying out different settings. (I had to get the perfect firework shot after all!) So here are a few pictures from my trials:

Right about then my camera died… so no pictures of the fireworks. But, that’s okay because the fireworks were a big disappointment. I still had a great little private date with Tristan though, it was nice to share some quiet time and the lights of the town were a nice ambience.

The fireworks themselves may not have been that great but… change is still a good thing.

Life is Good

Well I just posted a really long blog about my recent good fortune at my other blog. So go check that out for different entry.

Here is a different entry that is not so focused on my weight. :-D

Yesterday Tristan found this while getting the mail, I couldn’t wait to take pictures so I could show you all.

This is our praying mantis friend… I think I’ll call him… Olli. He lives outside and I’ve never really seen one for real, so this was pretty cool. California is pretty cool.

On the downside, I hate my dell even more.  I’ve taken a lot of time trying not to hate this god-forsaken machine, but I just can’t get past it’s short bus tendencies.

Here is a picture or two of how I’ve tried to love it more…

Those are rub on dragonflies from A.C. Moore! I still don’t like it and here is a picture why:

Yesterday, I closed my laptop and THIS is what happened. Unbelievable.

I fucking hate Dell computers. I’ll never buy one again. They are a piece of shit. This is the second one to spontaneously malfunction, although I should be lucky it’s not anything with the hardware because that would suck.

So I suppose that’s all for now. I have new music to listen to at the gym so I’m going to go try it out. Wish me luck!
